NERDA is a spring soft wheat variety belonging to medium-maturing and intensive types, developed for intensive farming systems and No-till technologies. The variety is characterized by an erect bush form with a sturdy stem and hairy green leaves with a slight waxy coating. The ear is cylindrical in shape, white or straw-colored. The vegetative period varies depending on the region and ranges from 81 to 104 days, allowing the use of the variety in various climatic zones, including the Polesye, Forest-steppe of Ukraine, and the Central steppe zone of the Orenburg region. The sowing rate is 4.5-5 million grains per hectare, while the mass of 1000 grains ranges from 31 to 45 grams, indicating uniformity in grain size.
The NERDA variety is distinguished by high resistance to drought, lodging, and shattering, as well as resistance to grain germination in the ear and during threshing. It demonstrates good baking qualities with protein content ranging from 14.4% to 15.6% and gluten from 25% to 37.4%, ensuring satisfactory flour quality. The grain natural density is within 780-820 g/l. The yield potential of the variety reaches 50-70 c/ha depending on growing conditions, while the average yield in the Ural region is about 24.9 c/ha.
Despite high resistance to adverse factors, the variety is susceptible to certain diseases such as stem rust, powdery mildew, and septoria, and is highly susceptible to root rot, brown rust, and head smut. Early sowing is recommended to achieve maximum productivity. The variety is suitable for growing in zones with various climatic conditions, making it a universal choice for farmers seeking a stable and high-quality soft wheat crop.
