Polba Golikivska is a variety of spring wheat developed by Ukrainian breeders and entered in the register in 2015. It belongs to the dicoccum genus and has versatile use for cultivation in the forest-steppe zone.
The variety is characterized by medium height plants – 80–86 cm, a growing period of about 98 days and average resistance to lodging. The grain huskiness is only 17%, which makes it suitable for mechanized sowing and harvesting with conventional agricultural implements. The weight of 1000 seeds ranges from 30 to 34 g, and the seeding rate is 4.5 million viable seeds per hectare.
Polba Golikivska stands out for its increased resistance to brown rust and hard bunt. Its potential yield is 5.2 t/ha, and in a competitive trial – 3.1 t/ha (with an increase of 0.4 t/ha over the standard). In 2019 at STOV "Peremoha" in Kyiv region, it reached the highest yield – 4.8 t/ha. The porridge made from this variety has a nutty taste and high palatability, making it popular among consumers.
Overall, Polba Golikivska is a reliable choice for farmers looking for a variety with stable yields, good resistance to diseases and ease of processing. It is suitable for both traditional and mechanized agricultural production in the conditions of forest-steppe and polissya.
