Soft winter wheat of the POVOLZHSKAIA 30 variety is a medium-maturing variety with an intermediate plant growth type, which can be semi-erect, short and erect. The plant is characterized by resistance to lodging and enhanced drought tolerance, making it suitable for cultivation in various regions, including the Orenburg region, the Republic of Bashkortostan, the Penza region, as well as the Volga-Vyatka and Ural regions. The maturation period is medium, and the mass of 1000 grains varies from 35 to 44 grams, indicating good grain quality. Average yield in the Ural region reaches 20.8-22.0 c/ha, and in the Volga-Vyatka region - about 27.4 c/ha, with maximum indicators up to 57.1 c/ha.
The variety has good bread-making qualities corresponding to the level of a good filler, confirmed by high protein (14.5-16.0%) and gluten (30-33%) content in the grain. Flour strength is 350-400 conditional units, and the overall bread quality assessment reaches 9 points. The grain is large, with a mass of 1000 grains up to 45-55 grams, has a reddish color and a grooved surface. The spike is of medium length (10-12 cm), dense and prismatic, with a weakly expressed waxy bloom and yellow color at maturity.
The root system is powerful and mobile, which allows for effective use of soil fertility and contributes to enhanced winter hardiness. The stem is of medium thickness, strong, 80-90 cm high, with a dense and erect bush shape. Leaves are dark green, medium-sized, with a weakly expressed waxy bloom. A feature of the variety is its physiological dual nature: in the autumn-winter period it behaves like a classic winter variety, and in the spring-summer - like a spring variety, which ensures stability and predictability of harvest in various climatic conditions.
