Wheat Yunika

Breeding Excellence from the Yuriev Institute

The «Yunika» wheat variety is a hallmark of the V. Ya. Yuriev Plant Production Institute (NAAS), specifically developed to address the needs of modern Ukrainian agriculture. Designed for intensive farming systems, this winter wheat variety has earned a reputation for reliability, consistently performing under varied climatic conditions. It is a top-tier choice for farmers looking to balance high-yield potential with superior grain quality.

Resilience and Adaptability

A major strength of this variety is its genetic resilience. Scoring 8–9 out of 9 in winter hardiness, the crop successfully endures harsh winter conditions, which is crucial for maintaining optimal stand density. Furthermore, the variety is bred for biological resistance, significantly reducing the need for intensive fungicide applications against common threats:

• Brown rust;
• Septoria;
• Fusarium head blight;
• Powdery mildew.

Production Specs and Market Value

With a vegetation period of 270–280 days, «Yunika» utilizes early spring moisture effectively to reach its full potential. The variety offers an impressive yield potential of 11–12 tons per hectare. Beyond quantity, the quality of the grain is exceptional: a 1,000-kernel weight of 45–50 grams and a gluten content exceeding 30% make it a premium product for the milling industry, ensuring high profitability for producers.
