Winter wheat EVELINA

Evelina winter wheat by Selgen: Czech genetics for reliable field health

For farmers seeking to optimize fungicide application programs without sacrificing yield, Evelina winter wheat from the renowned Czech breeder Selgen offers a strategic advantage. Unlike high-input varieties that require aggressive chemical protection, Evelina stands out due to its inherent biological resilience.

Why choose Evelina?

The core value of this variety lies in its robust genetic defense system. Selgen breeders have prioritized resistance to common pathogens, making it an excellent tool for risk management in temperate climates:

• Brown Rust (Leaf Rust): maintains green leaf area longer, maximizing photosynthetic capacity.
• Septoria: provides strong control against leaf blotch even in humid, high-pressure environments.
• Fusarium Head Blight: superior resistance helps minimize mycotoxin contamination, ensuring higher grain quality.
• Powdery Mildew: demonstrates stable resistance across various stages of vegetative growth.

Agronomic Fit

Evelina is best suited for farms practicing integrated crop management. It excels in diverse soil conditions, reflecting the adaptability typical of the Selgen breeding portfolio. The variety features strong standability, reducing the risks of lodging during high-yield scenarios.

Key Strengths: Exceptional disease profile, reduced need for intensive chemical applications, and consistent yield performance.
Recommendation: While the variety is robust, its genetic potential is best realized with targeted nitrogen fertilization, ensuring that protein composition matches the yield goals at harvest.
