Wheat Kharkivska 105

Genetic Profile and Adaptive Potential

The winter wheat variety "Kharkivska 105", developed by the V. Ya. Yuriev Plant Production Institute NAAS, represents a precision breeding approach aimed at stabilizing yield across the diverse microclimates of Ukraine. The variety is engineered for robustness, prioritizing resilience against extreme temperature fluctuations and providing a reliable foundation for variable seasonal conditions.

Pathological Resistance as a Management Tool

The core competitive advantage of "Kharkivska 105" lies in its multi-layered resistance to pathogens, which serves as a biological safeguard, effectively reducing the dependency on extensive fungicide applications. The technical resistance profile includes:

• Brown Rust: Genetically programmed immunity prevents early infestation of the foliage, protecting the critical photosynthetic surface area.
• Septoria and Powdery Mildew: Targeted selection has significantly reduced vulnerability to these common fungal threats, which often jeopardize yield during wet spring seasons.
• Fusarium Head Blight: High tolerance to Fusarium is a pivotal technical feature, ensuring grain quality and limiting the risk of mycotoxin accumulation, which is essential for meeting export and milling standards.

Agronomic Development and Field Performance

As a winter-type crop, "Kharkivska 105" exhibits vigorous tillering, maintaining an optimal stand density even under reduced seeding rates. The breeders focused on structural integrity—specifically straw strength—which prevents lodging during periods of heavy precipitation or high nitrogen uptake. The variety is optimized for high-input scenarios, demonstrating a predictable and consistent response to soil nutrient availability, making it a reliable workhorse for professional agricultural systems.
