Winter wheat Septima

Field Performance: Septima Wheat by Selgen

When working with Czech breeding from Selgen, you immediately notice a focus on agronomic efficiency rather than just raw yield numbers. Septima is a soft spring wheat variety that stands out for its structural integrity. Standing at 70–80 cm, this wheat is a relief to manage; you rarely need to worry about growth regulators to prevent lodging, as the stalks are naturally robust and compact.

Key Operational Advantages

• Harvest Efficiency: Being a beardless variety, Septima is a dream at harvest time. There are no awns to clog up the combine or contaminate the grain sample, which results in a cleaner hopper and less work at the grain cleaning stage.
• Nutrient Response: The variety shows excellent response to intensive fertilization. Instead of pushing unnecessary vegetative growth, it diverts energy into filling the ears. This makes nitrogen management much more predictable.
• Resilience: The spring development cycle allows it to establish a strong root system early on, which provides a solid buffer against typical spring moisture deficits.

For a farm manager, Septima represents a "set it and forget it" approach to crop management. You don’t find yourself constantly monitoring the field for leaning stalks or managing excessive biomass. It is a highly reliable variety that performs consistently across various soil conditions, making the entire production cycle—from sowing to post-harvest handling—significantly more streamlined.
