Winter wheat variety Asteria is a medium-maturing, high-yield soft wheat variety belonging to the Lutescens type. The vegetation period ranges from 265 to 282 days, ensuring stable grain ripening. The variety is characterized by medium height and high ecological plasticity, allowing successful cultivation in various climatic conditions of Polissia, Forest Steppe, and Steppe of Ukraine. The 1000-grain weight varies from 39.2 to 45.1 grams, and the seeding rate is 5.5–6.0 million viable seeds per hectare. One of the key advantages of the Asteria variety is its high resistance to adverse factors. It exhibits excellent winter hardiness and drought tolerance (8–9 points), as well as high resistance to lodging and shattering (9 points). Moreover, the variety demonstrates good resistance to root rots, septoria, fusarium, brown rust, and powdery mildew, significantly reducing the risk of yield loss and enhancing its stability. The quality of Asteria wheat is highly valued in milling and baking industries. Protein content in the grain ranges from 13.4–14.2%, and crude gluten content is 28.9–31.5%. Dough strength falls within the range of 232–287 units of activity, ensuring bread volume from 100 grams of flour at 980–1000 ml. Yield is stable and high, averaging 95.7 centners per hectare, with potential reaching 100–110 centners per hectare under optimal growing conditions. The variety is adaptable to growing conditions, preceding crops, and sowing dates, making it an attractive choice for farmers.
