Vika "Stepnaya" is a winter grain legume crop specifically developed for steppe and forest-steppe regions. Under optimal conditions, it yields up to 550 t/ha of green mass, with dry matter reaching 80 t/ha. Such high output makes it valuable feed for cattle, as well as an excellent complementary crop when combined with wheat.
The crop is characterized by resistance to adverse external conditions and low susceptibility to diseases. Maximum green fodder volume is achieved within 50–58 days after sowing, while the full growth cycle lasts 105–112 days. This allows for planning agro-technical activities without risk of production delays.
"Stepnaya" has good nitrogen fixation and a well-developed root system, which improves soil structure and enhances its fertility. The plant does not require frequent irrigation or fertilizing, and its seeds can be sown in early spring at temperatures from +5 °C. Thanks to these properties, it becomes a reliable element of agro-technical systems even under low humidity and limited resources.
