Alfalfa KRASNOKUTSKAIA VARIEGATED-HYBRID ALFALFA

Genetic Potential and Environmental Adaptation

The 'Krasnokutskaya Pestrogibridnaya' alfalfa from FANTS South-East is a breeding product specifically developed for the challenging conditions of continental climates. The key feature of this variety lies in its genetics: the variegated hybrid status (Medicago varia) combines the beneficial traits of both blue-hybrid and yellow alfalfa, providing significant crop plasticity. The stand height reaches 70–90 cm during the flowering phase, which is an ideal parameter for mechanical harvesting without excessive lodging.

Agronomic and Technical Insights

• Leafiness: The variety demonstrates a high density of leaves along the stem, which directly correlates with higher protein content. High leaf mass is maintained until mowing, minimizing nutrient loss during hay production.
• Root System: A well-developed taproot allows the crop to effectively utilize deep soil moisture, ensuring stable yields even in dry seasons typical of the South-East region.
• Regenerative Capacity: Post-mowing, the variety shows rapid regrowth, allowing for up to 3-4 full harvests per growing season when proper agronomic practices are maintained.

Utilizing original seeds from the Federal Agricultural Research Center of the South-East ensures varietal purity and uniform emergence. For commercial farming, this selection is justified by its superior winter hardiness, which is crucial for preventing stand thinning after severe temperature fluctuations during the off-season.
