La Torre

Lucerne La Torre is a Mediterranean-type variety characterized by high drought and cold resistance. This variety tolerates high air temperatures well and quickly recovers vegetation after stressful conditions. La Torre has increased resistance to lodging, minimizing leaf mass loss, and actively regrows in spring and after grazing. Due to these qualities, the variety is suitable for cultivation in all soil-climate zones of Ukraine.

La Torre is recommended for use in hay and silage, serving as a basis for high-quality silage. The variety is distinguished by high energy value due to protein content in dry matter at 20-22%. Lucerne responds well to soil liming and has excellent resistance to nematode infestation, verticillium, and anthracnose. Yield potential ranges from 87 to 95 tons per hectare, equivalent to up to 15 tons of dry matter per year. The weight of 1000 seeds varies from 1.7 to 2.2 grams, and seeds are packaged in 25 kg bags.

Moreover, lucerne La Torre, due to its deep roots, effectively utilizes water and nutrients from deeper soil layers, contributing to its high drought resistance. As a leguminous crop, it enhances soil fertility by providing nitrogen to crop rotations for free. The high protein content makes this variety a valuable forage crop, widely used in animal husbandry for animal feeding and fertilizer production, as well as for silage and hay production.
