Wild cabbage Topgan F1

Maximizing Storage Efficiency with Topgan F1

For growers focusing on late-season sales, selecting a hybrid that maintains its quality until spring is crucial. Topgan F1 from Bejo is a Dutch-bred cabbage designed for reliability. Its main appeal lies in the ability to withstand harsh field conditions, thanks to high resistance to Fusarium wilt, while delivering a consistent yield of high-quality heads for long-term storage.

Field Performance and Management

Optimal plant density is the key to managing this hybrid. By planting 35,000 to 40,000 plants per hectare, you ensure each head reaches its intended weight of 2.0-3.0 kg. The round head shape is consistent, making it highly compatible with mechanical harvesting equipment. The characteristic grey-green foliage is a hallmark of the hybrid's vigor and health throughout the 120-130 day growing season.

Storage and Profitability

The true value of Topgan F1 becomes evident once the harvest is over. Engineered for endurance, this cabbage maintains its density and marketability for 6 to 8 months in storage. For an operator, this means reduced waste during the winter months and a consistent supply chain for the most profitable market windows in late winter and early spring.
