Turnip SELECTA

Practical cultivation: from field to harvest

The 'Selecta' turnip variety is a reliable choice for open-field operations. This variety requires minimal maintenance, provided the soil preparation is handled correctly. Developed by the FGBNU Federal Scientific Center for Vegetable Production, this variety offers flexibility, covering both early and mid-season maturity cycles, which allows operators to optimize their harvest schedules effectively.

Operational characteristics and handling

In the field, 'Selecta' shows excellent uniformity. With an average root weight of 500g, logistics and post-harvest handling are straightforward. The flesh is dense and juicy, which directly impacts post-harvest durability, ensuring minimal damage during transit or loading.

• Flavor Profile: High sugar content makes 'Selecta' a top-tier product for the fresh market. This is the primary commercial advantage of the variety.
• Agronomic Efficiency: The plant is fully adapted to standard open-field cultivation practices. Its resilience to temperature fluctuations during the growing season minimizes crop loss.
• Economic Impact: Uniform ripening ensures significant savings on labor costs and machinery time during the harvesting window.

The 'Selecta' turnip does not require complex storage conditions beyond standard temperature control, making it a robust asset for any professional grower.
