Kometa

The 'Cometa' turnip variety is a mid-late variety with an original shape and coloring of the root crops. The roots are elongated-cylindrical, white in color with pink-purple shades at the top, weighing from 150 to 250 grams. The flesh is white, juicy, and tender, not prone to becoming woody, which ensures a pleasant and piquant-spicy taste. This variety is distinguished by high uniformity of fruits and excellent taste qualities, which makes it popular for fresh consumption during summer and autumn-winter periods.

The maturation period of the 'Cometa' turnip is about 73-75 days, which allows it to be used both for summer consumption and for winter storage. Yield reaches 2.2–3.3 kg per square meter. The leaf rosette is semi-erect, leaves are green with a slightly curved top, which is also a characteristic feature of the variety.

Sowing seeds is recommended in May at a depth of 1.5-2 cm for summer harvest, and in early July – to obtain root crops suitable for winter storage. The inter-row spacing when planting should be 12-15 cm, and after the appearance of four true leaves, seedlings are thinned out, leaving 5-10 cm between plants. Care of the crops includes soil loosening, weeding, regular watering, and 2-3 top dressings with mineral fertilizers, as well as pest control measures.
