Tulip Rio Grande

A Benchmark for Professional Floriculture

The 'Rio Grande' tulip stands as a staple in the Triumph class. Born from the hybridization of early tulips and Darwin hybrids, this variety has spent decades defining market standards for reliability and vigor. For growers seeking a predictable and high-performing crop, 'Rio Grande' remains a trusted choice.

Disease Resistance and Agronomic Value

Commercial viability is the hallmark of 'Rio Grande.' Its genetic profile offers significant resistance to Verticillium and Fusarium wilt—two of the most devastating threats in bulb production. This inherent hardiness allows growers to reduce the frequency of fungicide applications, making it a sustainable and cost-effective option for both greenhouse forcing and field production.

Market Aesthetics and Versatility

Classified as a mid-season bloomer, this tulip fits seamlessly into commercial production schedules. Its aesthetic appeal is defined by a bold red petal base infused with sophisticated lilac undertones, a color profile that commands high interest during peak spring market periods. Its structural integrity, characterized by an average stem height and a firm, goblet-shaped bloom, ensures that the cut flower maintains its appearance long after harvest, making it a favorite for bouquet designers.
