Tulip Reputation

An Engineering Approach to Triumph Breeding

The Reputation tulip is a classic Triumph class cultivar designed specifically for professional commercial floriculture. The core of this hybrid's breeding focuses on the integration of stem rigidity and resilience against a complex range of pathogens, which is critical for protecting the grower’s investment in planting material.

Biological Barrier and Phytosanitary Resilience

One of the primary challenges in industrial forcing and field production is the susceptibility of bulbs to soil-borne infections. Reputation's genetic architecture incorporates a heightened level of tolerance to the following threats:

• Fusarium and Verticillium: The hybrid features an efficient mechanism for blocking fungal penetration through the basal plate, minimizing losses during the rooting stage.
• Tobacco Mosaic Virus (TMV): Increased cellular resistance allows the plant to maintain the commercial appearance of its foliage even under high-density planting conditions.
• Cladosporiosis: The plant's timely physiological response to the pathogen minimizes the formation of necrotic spots on the vegetative mass.

Morphology and Market Timing

Reputation is classified as a mid-season variety, serving as a versatile tool for sales scheduling. Its stem height falls within a medium range, ensuring superior resistance to lodging during transport and packaging. The color palette of the petals represents a deep transition from an intense red to noble lilac undertones. This feature is driven by the concentration of anthocyanins within the epidermal cells, which maintain color stability even when greenhouse temperature regimes fluctuate.

For agrotechnologists, this variety is valuable due to its predictable growth cycle, allowing for precise forecasting of peak decorative maturity. The balance between growth rate and tissue strength makes it a reliable asset for the premium cut flower segment.
