Tulip Fred Meijer

A Benchmark of Dutch Breeding

The Fred Meier tulip is a cornerstone of the Triumph class, widely recognized for its reliability in commercial greenhouse forcing and spring landscaping. Originating from traditional Dutch breeding programs, it was developed to meet the strict requirements of professional florists: a striking, deep red color combined with exceptional structural integrity. It remains a staple in the market due to its consistency and high-quality performance.

Agrotechnical Profile

• Flowering Period: Mid-season, allowing for strategic planning in cultivation cycles.
• Growth Habit: Medium height, ensuring robust stem strength and resistance to wind damage.
• Bloom Characteristics: Classic goblet shape with firm, long-lasting petals.

The market reputation of Fred Meier is built on its predictability. For commercial growers, this variety offers a significant advantage in production: it demonstrates uniform growth and development during the forcing process, which minimizes waste and ensures that final batches meet professional standards. Its signature red pigment remains vibrant regardless of light exposure, making it a preferred choice for high-end floral arrangements.

Beyond industrial production, Fred Meier is a reliable option for garden landscaping. Its mid-season bloom window allows it to serve as a vital link between early and late-blooming varieties, maintaining continuous visual impact in public parks or private gardens. For agronomists and producers, it represents the gold standard of the Triumph class—a proven performer that consistently delivers high-value results without the volatility often seen in newer, less tested hybrids.
