Tulip Bing Crosby

Professional Forcing and Cut Flower Production

The 'Bing Crosby' tulip, belonging to the Triumph class, is a reliable choice for commercial growers focusing on consistent quality. Its primary appeal lies in its sturdy stems and the uniform, classic cup-shaped bloom that meets high retail standards for spring floral arrangements.

Practical Applications and Agronomic Management

• Forcing Cycles: As a mid-season bloomer, this cultivar responds well to standard cooling protocols. Growers value it for its predictability, which reduces labor costs during the harvesting phase, as the entire bed tends to reach maturity simultaneously.
• Marketable Yield: The intense red pigmentation is fade-resistant, and the high petal density provides the necessary shelf life required for distribution chains. Its medium height is optimal for standard greenhouse racking, preventing overgrowth that often causes logistical issues.
• Field Performance: In open-field environments, 'Bing Crosby' exhibits excellent resilience against variable spring weather. It is an ideal variety for filling the gap between early-blooming varieties and late-season cultivars.

For operations aiming for peak sales periods, this variety acts as a low-maintenance, high-reward option. It requires standard nutritional management but performs exceptionally well on well-drained, nutrient-rich substrates. Proper ventilation in greenhouse settings is critical during the final stage of growth to ensure the tight buds remain healthy and free from fungal issues common in dense canopy structures.
