Tulip Free World

Reliable Classic: Greigii Tulip 'Free World'

For a professional grower, choosing a cultivar is a constant balancing act between aesthetics and material resilience. 'Free World' belongs to the Greigii tulip group, and its operational performance makes it one of the most predictable options for spring forcing and landscaping.

Operational Resilience and Durability

Soil-borne pathogens and viral infections are the primary operational hazards for bulb crops. 'Free World' stands out for its robust, multi-layered resistance. In field conditions, the variety demonstrates high immunity to Fusarium and Verticillium wilts, which significantly reduces the operational cost of fungicide applications. Furthermore, the cultivar is resistant to Cladosporium and Tomato Mosaic Virus, which often plague adjacent crops in standard rotations.

Operational Insights and Performance

• Timing: Its medium bloom time allows for effective production scheduling, balancing labor requirements during peak seasons.
• Form Factor: The low growth habit makes it an ideal tool for foreground planting or dense container displays. The stems possess sufficient rigidity, eliminating the need for support systems even during windy spring weather.
• Visual Impact: The intense red color of the petals provides high visibility, which is a critical performance factor for landscaping projects.

Maintaining a 'Free World' plot is straightforward, involving standard agronomic cycles. The variety is not prone to bulb degeneration, provided basic irrigation and fertilization protocols are met. This ensures high yield potential and reliable material for propagation in subsequent seasons without compromising cultivar characteristics.
