Tulip Franz Liszt

Technical Profile of Greigii Tulip Franz Liszt

The Greigii tulip 'Franz Liszt' is a specialized breeding product designed for mid-spring performance. Its engineering value lies in its compact architecture and high biological resistance to the most common bulbous plant pathogens.

Morphology and Adaptability

The low-growing habit of this plant serves as a technical advantage: the low center of gravity and sturdy peduncle minimize lodging risk during heavy winds, which is essential for open cultivation. The internal tissue structure exhibits significant resistance to a range of fungal infections:

• White and Gray Mold: The dense structure of the outer bulb scales acts as a barrier against mycelium penetration during the dormancy period.
• Peronospora and Phomopsis: The plant's cell sap contains natural inhibitors that suppress pathogen development, reducing the necessity for intensive fungicide applications.
• Phomosis: Systemic resistance ensures the integrity of the vegetative mass even under high humidity conditions.

The intense red color of the petals is due to a high concentration of anthocyanins, which act as cryoprotectants, allowing the plant to maintain turgor during sudden spring frosts.

Practical Application

Its mid-season blooming period makes this cultivar an ideal link between early-flowering botanical tulips and main garden hybrids. Franz Liszt performs reliably in well-drained loamy soils, maintaining its phenotypic stability throughout the entire growing cycle.
