Tulip David Teniers

Field Performance and Maintenance

Operating with the 'David Teniers' tulip variety, growers benefit from its predictable development cycles. As a double early tulip, the focus is on precise planting schedules to maximize biomass before the main heatwave. The low-growth habit is a significant advantage for field management; the plants are highly resistant to lodging even in heavy spring winds, eliminating the need for mechanical supports or costly growth regulators.

Phytosanitary Resilience

A key operational benefit is the cultivar's robust genetic defense system. Unlike more demanding decorative varieties, 'David Teniers' offers significant resistance to major soil-borne pathogens. Field records confirm its efficacy against late blight, common scab, and potato wart disease. Notably, the variety's resistance to the golden potato nematode allows for stable production on challenging sites with high inoculum pressure, ensuring a higher percentage of marketable blooms.

Blooming and Handling

The striking lilac petals require balanced soil pH management. While categorized as a mid-blooming variety within its group, the density of the double flower head is remarkable. This structural integrity is beneficial for post-harvest logistics, as the flowers maintain their aesthetic appeal longer, reducing waste during transit and retail display.
