Tulip Negrita Double

The Aesthetics of Early Spring

The Negrita Double cultivar is a prominent representative of double early tulips, securing its position as a 'premium accent' in landscape design and forcing. Its genetic lineage traces back to the popular Negrita variety, from which it inherited its deep, iconic lilac hue, enhanced by a lush, multi-layered petal structure.

Agronomic Profile and Resilience

Unlike many ornamental double varieties prone to sensitivity, Negrita Double demonstrates enviable resistance for its class. Professional nurseries value it for its tolerance to complex pathogens that frequently threaten spring bulb crops:

• Strong immunity against Fusarium and Verticillium wilt.
• Resistance to Cladosporium.
• Tolerance to Tomato mosaic virus and root-knot nematodes.

This characteristic makes it a dependable choice for both commercial cut-flower production and private gardens, where minimizing chemical interventions is a priority.

Market Position

The plant's short stature dictates its primary application: creating dense border arrangements, filling the foreground of flower beds, or container gardening. Its 'peony-flowered' double petals have made it a favorite among florists in the early spring segment. Due to its compact size, this tulip does not lodge under spring winds, providing a significant advantage in regions with volatile weather patterns.
