SVELTITSA

The winter triticale variety Svetlitsa is a grain crop developed at the Tatarstan Research Institute of Agriculture through individual selection from the hybrid population Ryzovsky 5 x Ryzovsky 7. This variety is intended for grain use for both fodder and food purposes. The plant is characterized by medium heading time, a tall growth form, and an intermediate bush type. The ear is fully awned, with awns of medium length above the ear tip. The mass of 1000 seeds is 44.8 g, which exceeds standard indicators. The Svetlitsa variety is distinguished by high and stable yields, which average 40.4 c/ha in the Middle Volga region, with maximum yields reaching 82.2 c/ha, recorded at the Arsk State Farm in the Republic of Tatarstan in 2020. In addition to high productivity, the variety has high grain quality: the mass of 1000 grains exceeds the standard by 13 g, the natural grain mass is higher by 30 g/l, and the grain is well-uniform, with 15% higher uniformity. Furthermore, the content of crude protein and crude gluten in the grain is higher than standard values, which ensures the formation of gluten of quality group 1 almost every year. Biochemical composition and fodder value studies of the Svetlitsa variety conducted in the Republic of Tatarstan over a decade showed that this variety leads in crude protein and sugar content, which increases its nutritional value as fodder. The influence of genotype and external factors on grain biochemical indicators confirms the high adaptability and stability of the variety under various hydrometric conditions. Thus, Svetlitsa is a promising triticale variety with high yield, grain quality, and fodder value indicators.
