Triticale Obereg Kharkivskiy

Yuriev Institute Selection Heritage

The "Oberih Kharkivskyi" triticale is a hallmark product of the V. Ya. Yuriev Plant Production Institute, representing the response of Ukrainian agricultural science to the market demand for highly productive, technologically manageable crops. Amidst shifting climate conditions and increasing demands for production profitability, this variety has secured its place as a 'safe' choice for farms focusing on stable yields of forage grain and green mass.

Agronomic Potential and Protection

A key advantage of this variety is its balanced resistance profile. Breeders prioritized protection against pathogens that typically constrain yield potential under moderate humidity. "Oberih Kharkivskyi" demonstrates high resistance to:

• wheat leaf rust;
• septoria;
• powdery mildew.

Such genetic resistance reduces the pressure on fungicide programs, allowing agronomists to optimize crop protection costs without compromising grain quality. The plants reach a moderate height of 90–100 cm, which ensures an optimal grain-to-straw ratio and facilitates the harvesting process, effectively minimizing lodging risks even under intensive cultivation practices.

Market Positioning

Today, "Oberih Kharkivskyi" is regarded as a classic of domestic selection. It is sought after in regions with intensive farming practices where both productivity and adaptability to Ukraine's soil and climatic conditions are paramount. The variety is highly suitable both for developing fodder bases in livestock farming and for commercial grain production. Its proven stability makes it a reliable instrument for farmers prioritizing consistent performance in the field.
