Triticale Amphidiploid 256

A reliable choice for intensive farming

"Amphidiploid 256" is a breeding product from the V. Ya. Yuriev Plant Production Institute that has become a benchmark of adaptability among Ukrainian winter triticale varieties. In the face of a changing climate, farmers increasingly rely on this variety due to its predictability and high plasticity.

Key features and agronomy

The main advantage of this variety is its complex resistance to key leaf diseases. Unlike many imported varieties that require intensive fungicide protection, "Amphidiploid 256" demonstrates high tolerance to brown rust, septoria, and powdery mildew. This allows for significant optimization of pesticide costs without sacrificing yield potential.

• Morphology: The plants reach a height of 130–140 cm, depending on the intensity of the agricultural background, providing substantial biomass. Despite its height, the variety is quite resistant to lodging, which is critical for high-yielding crops.
• Application: The variety is versatile. It performs equally well in the fodder sector (high protein content in grain and quality vegetative mass) and as a raw material for the feed industry.

Who is this variety for?

"Amphidiploid 256" is an optimal solution for farms practicing intensive cultivation on sod-podzolic and chernozem soils. Its "weak point" is sensitivity to extremely poor soils, where it cannot fully realize its tillering potential. However, on fertile fields that require a crop with high growth energy and the ability to suppress weeds with its powerful vegetative cover, this variety has almost no competitors in terms of the price-to-quality ratio of the seed material.
