Tradescantia is a perennial plant that easily fits into a summer garden thanks to its bright green color and dense ground cover. Bushes reach a height of up to 60 cm, their upright stems are covered with dense linear-lanceolate leaves, creating an effective green carpet surface.
The main decoration of tradescantia are small three-lobed flowers, which can be white, blue, purple, or pink. They open in the morning and close by evening, and the flowering period lasts from June to September, with new buds appearing every day. White options add notes of tenderness and romance, while bright shades bring liveliness to the composition.
The plant prefers sunny or semi-shaded areas with well-drained soil, but shows high resistance to drought, pests, and cold. Thanks to these properties, tradescantia is perfect for mixed borders, flower beds, water bodies, as well as a companion for daylilies, irises, grasses, and ferns. It grows easily as a hanging vine or ground cover plant, creating a dense green cover and giving the garden an exotic look.
