Tradescantia andersoniana – a perennial shrub up to 60 cm tall with dense, long lance-shaped leaves of deep green color, which give the plant an elegant appearance. The plant is distinguished by its resistance to various conditions: it is easily grown on medium, dry and well-drained soil, as well as in full sun to partial shade. In brighter light, flowers appear almost throughout the summer season – from late May to early September.

Tradescantia flowering manifests as elegant white, blue, pink or blue budlets, which form on long stems and add brightness to the garden. To maintain density and stimulate new growth, it is recommended to prune the plant to 6–12 inches in mid-summer; this can also contribute to autumn flowering. When bushes are overcrowded, groups should be divided to maintain compactness.

Tradescantia prefers moist, acidic and sandy soils, but does not suffer from most pests and diseases. The only noticeable vulnerability – young shoots can be damaged by snails. In general, the plant is a reliable decorative element both in the garden and in the pot, requiring moderate watering and periodic fertilizing twice a year.
