Tobacco Zhovtolistyi 36

Transcarpathian breeding for quality leaf production

"Zhovtolistyi 36" is a time-tested variety of Ukrainian tobacco breeding, developed by the experts at the Transcarpathian Institute of Agro-Industrial Production (UAAS). It has secured its place in the cigar tobacco segment by offering farmers a balanced combination of adaptability and reliable yield characteristics.

Agronomic resilience

A primary challenge in tobacco farming is fungal pressure. This variety stands out due to its genetic resistance to Fusarium and powdery mildew, which significantly simplifies open-field cultivation. Its early ripening period allows for harvesting before the onset of heavy autumn rains, which is vital for maintaining the structural integrity and quality of its large leaves.

Technical profile

• Leaf Type: Large-leaf, ensuring high yield potential per hectare.
• Nicotine Content: 1.0–2.0%, providing a smooth, manageable strength.
• Aroma: Light and refined profile.
• Application: Specialized cigar tobacco.

The reputation of "Zhovtolistyi 36" is built on stability. Unlike demanding imported hybrids, this variety performs predictably under standard field conditions. It is a preferred choice for growers focused on producing local cigar-grade tobacco with moderate nicotine content and excellent processing characteristics.
