Zhovtolistyi 36 is a broad-leaf tobacco variety cultivated in Transcarpathia through intervarietal crosses of Sobolchskyi 33, American 311, and Sobolchskyi 46. The early-maturing plant has a cylindrical shape, reaching 170–180 cm in height with 22–23 leaves. The leaves are oval-round, approximately 50×26 cm in size, and ripen quickly across tiers. The raw material is light-yellow or light-brown in color; after shade-drying, it acquires a pleasant, not too strong aroma, and is used for manufacturing bags with orientals.
The variety is characterized by high yield and good quality indicators of smoking leaves. The leaf density is moderate, ensuring even burning and a pleasant taste. Zhovtolistyi 36 is suitable for producing cigar tobacco and other smoking products. It is resistant to various diseases, including powdery mildew and fusarium, making it a popular choice among farmers.
For optimal growth, well-drained soil with neutral acidity and regular watering are required. The variety develops well in temperate climate conditions – central and southern Ukraine, as well as similar regions. Nicotine content is about 1.2%, which meets standards for broad-leaf varieties. Zhovtolistyi 36 is a reliable choice for both agricultural production and industrial use in the tobacco industry.
