SHARPLIST 215 tobacco is a heat-curing variety belonging to the Soviet large-leafed tobacco group. The plant has a conical shape and reaches a height of 1.5 to 2.15 meters depending on growing conditions. The leaves are wide, oval, and light green in color; the average size of the middle tier is about 35 × 22 cm, with a total of about twenty-two leaves per bush. The flower is pink, and the period from planting to flowering ranges from 56 to 73 days.
The variety is characterized by high productivity and excellent smoking quality, combining the characteristics of American large-leafed varieties and oriental tobaccos. SHARPLIST 215 is resistant to sunburn and does not require special topping measures – however, growth may lag slightly. An important factor for obtaining a quality product is the soil: chernozem yields tastier tobacco, and the variety is widely grown in Ukraine and Moldova.
The smoking value of SHARPLIST 215 is confirmed by the nicotine content in the leaf – from 1.2% to 1.3%. Thanks to this, the tobacco is suitable for both direct smoking and the production of various tobacco products. It was widely used in the Krasnodar Krai (Kuban-Maykop sub-type) and remains in demand among enthusiasts of quality heat-cured tobacco.
