Description

The Hyacinth variety Gipsy Queen (Gipsy Queen), also known as "Gypsy Queen", is a striking and fragrant plant with apricot-colored inflorescences, which become a bright accent for spring compositions and garden beds. The plant reaches a height of 25-30 cm, and the leafless flower stems, about 15-20 cm tall, bear more than 30 densely packed small bell-shaped flowers with a waxy texture up to 2 cm long. Blooming begins in March-April and lasts about 15-20 days. The flowers have a pleasant fragrant aroma and maintain freshness in a cut state for up to 2-3 weeks, making this variety one of the best for cutting and long-distance transport. For successful cultivation of Gipsy Queen, it is recommended to choose sunny areas with fertile, well-drained soil. Bulbs sized 15/16 or 18/19 should be planted in autumn before the frosts, after which the area should be mulched with pine bark or straw to protect from severe frosts. In spring, before the end of frosts, the mulch should be removed; however, the bark can be left, and young shoots can be shaded for some time for better development. Bulbs produce one or two flower stems, ensuring abundant and prolonged blooming. After the end of the blooming season, it is recommended to dig up the bulbs, dry them in the shade in fresh air and in a warm room, and then store them in a dry place in sand until the next planting. Thanks to their decorative qualities, fragrant aroma, and undemanding nature, the hyacinth Gipsy Queen is excellent for both garden cultivation and home floriculture, allowing to create bright and fragrant spring compositions.
