Chard "EMERALD" – a mid-season leaf beet variety that grows for 90‑100 days from sowing to harvest. The leaf rosette is vertical and compact, with a plant height not exceeding 50 cm. The petioles are wide, juicy, and light green in color, 20–25 cm long, while the leaves are dark green, highly curly, exceptionally tender and tasty, resembling asparagus.
Chard leaves and petioles are rich in vitamins and minerals, surpassing ordinary table beets in nutrient content. Thanks to this, they are widely used in cooking: added to salads, soups, vegetable stews; used for making stuffed cabbage rolls, pie fillings, and can also be pickled, salted, marinated, dried, and frozen. Petioles can be stewed, made into caviar, or the juice can be used for medicinal purposes.
The "EMERALD" variety allows for multiple cuttings, which allows for obtaining a yield of leaves and petioles throughout the growing period. The yield is 6–7 kg/m², and thanks to the compact shape, the plant easily fits both on suburban plots and in urban gardens. This makes chard a practical choice for those who appreciate tasty and useful vegetables with high yield.
