Omsk Rhythmic – a biennial yellow type sweetclover with an erect bush 75–100 cm high and high bushiness (foliage cover 38–50 %). The stem has uniform branching, leaves are light green, inverted-ovate. Flowers are bright yellow, while pods are large, light brown, two-seeded; seeds are kidney-shaped and greenish-yellow.
The variety is distinguished by its early maturity: the vegetative period from spring regrowth to the first mowing is 44–54 days, and to seed maturity – 82–106 days. This allows for quickly obtaining a yield of both dry matter (crude protein content 21.4 %) and seeds.
Omsk Rhythmic exhibits high winter hardiness and drought resistance, making it suitable for cultivation in harsh climatic conditions of Western Siberia. The patent status of the variety is confirmed by registration in 1990, and yield data on the Cherlak and Omsk irrigated experimental stations show significant superiority over the base variety 'Siberian Yellow'.
Problems with pests and diseases are at the average standard level: powdery mildew damage – average, bean weevil damage – below average. This makes Omsk Rhythmic a resilient and reliable choice for agricultural enterprises seeking high yield indicators with minimal risk of damage.
