The white lupin variety "Almaz" is mid-ripening and cultivated under double-cutting conditions. The plant reaches a height of 190–205 cm, has a semi-erect bush, and a long stem of medium width. Leaves are oval-shaped, inversely egg-shaped, of medium size, with intense green coloration at the beginning of development. Pods are dark brown, netted-wrinkled, and seeds are oval-heart shaped, dirty-yellow and yellowish-green, with a mass of 1000 seeds ranging from 1.72–1.96 g.
"Almaz" is distinguished by high yield potential: green mass harvest reaches 540 c/ha, dry matter – 125 c/ha, and average seed yield – 5.8 c/ha. Coumarin content is reduced to 0.5%, making the variety safe for feeding animals. The feed dry matter contains 22–24% crude protein and 29–30% fiber.
The variety is resistant to winter hardiness and drought, and shows low susceptibility to powdery mildew (0–5%) and lodging. It is suitable for mechanized harvesting and can serve as an excellent semi-stepper predecessor for winter crops. For optimal growth, the recommended agro-technology includes phosphorus-potassium fertilizers at 45–60 kg/ha, scarification, and seed inoculation with micro-fertilizers.
