Sweetclover OBSCOI GIGANT

Optimizing Biomass and Soil Fertility

"Obskoy Gigant" is a variety of white sweet clover (Melilotus albus) developed by researchers from the SB RAS and the Chelyabinsk Research Institute of Agriculture. Designed for high yield, it reaches a height of 150–200 cm, offering a massive output of green matter essential for soil structure improvement and organic enrichment.

Practical Field Applications

• Green Manure and Soil Reclamation: Given its robust root system, this variety is highly effective for regenerating soil fertility and fixing atmospheric nitrogen. It is widely used as a cover crop to prepare fields for intensive cereal production.
• Fodder Production: The variety provides a high yield of green biomass, suitable for silage or haylage. Its resilience in harsh climates makes it a reliable feed source in regions with short growing seasons and extreme temperature fluctuations.
• Managing Problematic Soils: Obskoy Gigant is particularly successful in rehabilitating saline or eroded soils where other legumes struggle to establish, acting as a biological cultivator for compact soil layers.

With a 1000-seed weight of 1.8–2.2 g, the variety requires precision seeding rates. Its structural integrity ensures the crop does not lodge easily, simplifying mowing and mulching processes. For farm managers focused on sustainable rotation and soil health, Obskoy Gigant serves as a predictable and productive tool for agricultural optimization.
