OBSCOI GIGANT is a variety of white biennial lupin developed at the Siberian Institute of Feed and Multiple Selection by repeated selection from the local Slavgorod white lupin. The plant has an erect bush, stems reaching a height of 160 cm and more, of medium thickness, and uniform leafiness up to 61 %. Leaflets are inversely obovate, soft, non-hairy, and flowers are white.
Pods are single-seeded, yellow-brown in color, with a mass of 1000 seeds – 1.9 g. The variety is characterized by high winter hardiness and good drought resistance, making it suitable for cultivation in a wide range of climatic conditions. The vegetative period lasts from spring growth to the first mowing 58–68 days, followed by 25 days to the second mowing, and seed ripening takes 106 days.
The yield of this variety is high: during the vegetation period, green mass of 160–260 kg/ha and seeds of 6.7–8.1 c/ha are formed. The variety is weakly affected by diseases and pests, ensuring stable growth and minimal crop losses. OBSCOI GIGANT is widely used in agronomy as a cultural plant for soil enrichment and weed control, and is also suitable for use in all regions due to its versatility and resilience.
