Description MIDDLE VOLGA
The Middle Volga variety of white sweet clover is an annual legume plant that reaches a height of 167–186 cm, with an erect bush and weak anthocyanin coloration on the stem. The leaves are trifoliate, rounded‑lanceolate in shape, and the inflorescences form an axillary panicle about 30 cm long, consisting of white flowers.

The pods of this variety have an elliptical shape and a light brown color; the seeds are oval, pale yellow, with a mass of 1,000 seeds ranging from 2.6 to 2.8 g. The growing season before mowing maturity lasts 50–55 days, and until seed ripening it takes 105–115 days.

The Middle Volga variety stands out for its high productivity: the average yield of dry matter in the region reaches 66.9 c/ha (11.1 c above the standard), and the seed yield is 5–6 c/ha (1.64 c above the standard). The plant is resistant to powdery mildew, salt-resistant, and drought-resistant, making it suitable for growing in various climatic conditions. This variety was developed by the Volga Region Research Institute of Plant Breeding and Seed Growing named after P.N. Konstantinov and was included in the state register of breeding achievements since 2010.
