ES Petunia sunflower is a medium-early simple hybrid of the oilseed type, intended for cultivation in the Northern Steppe, Forest-Steppe, and Polissia regions of Ukraine. Plants reach an average height of about 170 cm, with flower heads approximately 23 cm in diameter, slightly leaning downward along the stem. The vegetative period is about 109 days, corresponding to the early-maturing hybrid group. Seeds are characterized by high initial growth energy and are suitable for moderately intensive cultivation technologies with a traditional herbicide protection system. The hybrid is distinguished by high potential yield, reaching 4.5–5 tons per hectare (45 centners per hectare), while actual yield typically ranges from 32–40 centners per hectare. Seeds contain approximately 50% oil, making this sunflower attractive for oil production. Plants exhibit good drought, lodging, and shattering resistance, ensuring stability and productivity under various climatic conditions. Recommended planting density varies depending on the moisture level of the region: 60–65 thousand plants per hectare under sufficient moisture and 50–55 thousand under insufficient moisture. ES Petunia demonstrates high resistance to a broad spectrum of diseases, including froge disease, false powdery mildew, fomosis, anthracnose, verticillium, flower and stem sclerotinia, and alternaria and rust. A well-developed root system and high leafiness contribute to good plant nutrition and resilience. The product is certified and available for delivery throughout Ukraine, making it an attractive choice for farmers aiming to achieve high-quality sunflower yields.
