Originator:
Institute of Plant Growing named after V. Ya. Yuryev. Registered in the Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine since 2004 for Steppe and Forest-Steppe Zones.
Trial characteristics: Variety — striped. Plant height 160-165 cm. Heads large, convex, 18-21 cm in diameter. Shelling 20%, shelliness 99.5%. 1000 seed mass 46 g.
Biological features: Hybrid belongs to the early-maturing group, vegetation period 105-106 days. Characterized by uniform flowering and ripening. Resistant to lodging, drought-tolerant, low shattering. Genetically resistant to wolf and false powdery mildew, resistant to gray and white rot. Hybrid for oilseed use.
Yield and quality: In competitive trials of the institute in 1999-2001, seed yield was 35.2-36.8 centners per hectare, exceeding the standard Svetoch by 3.5-4.8 centners per hectare. Potential yield 41 centners per hectare. Oil content in seeds 49.39-51.02%. A distinctive feature of the hybrid is high oleic acid content 65.4-87.9%, which gives priority to using such oil in the food, confectionery, and pharmaceutical industries. Yield of maternal line 8.9-13.1 centners per hectare. Percentage of standard seeds 61.8%. For full pollination of the maternal line, paternal lines must be sown in two rows on hybridization plots. The maternal line must be sown only after the emergence of cotyledons of the paternal line.
