Originator:
Institute of Plant Growing named after V.Ya.Yuriev. Registered in the Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine since 2003 for steppe zone.
Trial characteristics: Variety — Chernyanka small-seeded. Plant height 165-168 cm. Baskets large, convex shape, diameter 19-22 cm. Huskiness 22.3-24.0%, shelliness 100%. 1000 seed mass 62-64 g. Biological characteristics: Hybrid belongs to early-maturing group, vegetation period duration 103-107 days. Drought resistance high, lodging resistance low, resistance to lodging. Genetically determined resistance to wolf and false powdery mildew, resistant to gray and white rot. Hybrid for oil use. Yield and quality: In the competitive trials of the institute in 1998-2000, seed yield averaged 34.2 centners per hectare, exceeding standard Odessa 249 by 3.8 centners per hectare. Oil content in seeds 49.8%. Yield of maternal line 21.2-25.1 centners per hectare. Percentage of conditionally acceptable seeds 55-60%. Due to using highly productive simple hybrid as maternal line, production of triple-line hybrid seeds is cheaper and more profitable than simple interline hybrids. Parental lines should be sown simultaneously on hybridization plots.
