Originator:
Institute of Plant Growing named after V. Ya. Yuryev. Registered in the Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine since 1996 for Steppe and Forest-Steppe Zones.
Trial Characteristics: Variety — Chernyanka small-seeded. Plant height 130-150 cm. Heads large, slightly convex, 18-22 cm in diameter. Seeds black, spherical-elongated. Hulling 22-24%, shelliness 99.5%. 1000 seed mass 58-62 g.
Biological Features: Hybrid belongs to the early-maturing group, vegetation period duration 100-105 days. Characterized by uniformity in plant height and head ripening. Resistant to wolf, false powdery mildew, moderately resistant to gray and white mold. Due to early head ripening, the hybrid requires practically no desiccation. Hybrid intended for oil use.
Yield and Quality: In competitive trials of the institute during 1990-1992, the average seed yield of the hybrid was 37.9 centners per hectare, exceeding the standard by 5.6 centners per hectare. Maximum yield — 45 centners per hectare — was achieved on the Shpolyansky trial plot in Cherkasy Oblast. Oil content in seeds 51-53%, oil extraction 1898 kg per hectare. Oleic acid content 32%, allowing for high-quality oil production. Motherline yield 15.2-18.9 centners per hectare. Percentage of conditioned seeds 55.0%. Parental lines are sown simultaneously on hybridization plots.
