Ramonsky MS 68 is a single-seed diploid hybrid of sugar beet (Beta vulgaris L. ssp. vulgaris var. saccharifera Alef.) on a sterile N-type base. This hybrid belongs to mid-late varieties with high sugar content and good yield. Plants are characterized by an average root weight of 555 to 667 grams, which ensures a stable harvest. Sugar content in roots reaches 17.4–18.1%, allowing for a high sugar output — up to 83 centners per hectare under favorable conditions.
The hybrid is recommended for cultivation in various regions, including the Central Black Soil, North Caucasus, and Middle Volga regions. In these zones, Ramonsky MS 68 demonstrates an average root yield of 430 to 555 centners per hectare, with sugar harvest varying from 75 to 83 centners per hectare. Thanks to its adaptability to climatic conditions and soils, the hybrid is suitable for intensive cultivation in the indicated regions.
Regarding disease resistance, Ramonsky MS 68 has moderate resistance to root rot, but is susceptible to powdery mildew and cercosporosis, with field infection by cercosporosis noted as weak. Also, over the years of testing, weak infection by root rots was observed. These features require the application of appropriate agronomic and protective measures to maintain crop health and maximize yield.
