Sugar beet PERVOMAISKYI

Genetic Potential and Field Protection

The "Pervomaysky" variety, developed by specialists at the Pervomayskaya Research Station (authors A. G. Shevchenko, V. A. Logvinov, V. N. Mishchenko), is a classic example of breeding focused on the balance between harvestability and yield quality. The root crop's physiology features a broad-conical shape, which facilitates efficient mechanical harvesting, minimizing root breakage and loss during combine operation.

Phytopathological Resistance as a Cost-Reduction Tool

The primary value of "Pervomaysky" lies in its inherent immunity to several critical diseases. Agronomic practice confirms that high tolerance to peronosporosis and phomosis allows for a significant reduction in fungicide applications during critical growth stages. In conditions of epiphytotics, the variety demonstrates strong resistance to:

• Cercosporosis;
• Phomopsis;
• Powdery mildew.

This reliability makes it an excellent choice for regions with volatile moisture levels and high disease pressure.

Technical Characteristics of the Root

The medium size of the root crops ensures optimal plant density under standard sowing patterns. The key indicator of raw material quality—sugar content ranging from 18% to 19%—places "Pervomaysky" in the category of high-yield sugar varieties. During processing, this sucrose concentration reduces energy consumption during juice evaporation, which is a decisive factor for the cost-efficiency of sugar refineries.
