Developed by the Institute of Sugar Beet of the UAAS, the IСB 0905 variety is tailored to meet the challenges of the Ukrainian agricultural sector. The core technical merit of this variety lies in its high resistance profile against critical pathogens: cercospora, powdery mildew, and root rots. This genetic architecture allows for a more efficient pest management strategy, reducing the frequency of fungicide applications and lowering the overall cost of production while maintaining stable yields.

Morphology and Mechanical Efficiency

IСB 0905 is characterized by a large root crop with a cylindrical-conical shape. This specific geometry is designed for modern mechanized farming; it allows for stable penetration into the soil and ensures high uniformity during harvesting. Reduced variance in root shape directly translates to fewer losses during processing and mechanical handling by sugar beet harvesters.

Plant Density and Cultivation Strategy

To maximize the yield potential and sugar content, growers should adjust the density based on the moisture levels of the specific field:

• In regions with high moisture levels or under irrigation, a planting density of 90,000–100,000 plants/ha is recommended.
• In areas with limited water availability, maintaining a density of 80,000–90,000 plants/ha is optimal to prevent nutrient competition and ensure the development of large, high-quality roots.

Adhering to these density requirements is essential to provide each plant with adequate space, ensuring the full expression of the variety’s productivity traits.
