Breeding legacy for stable yields

"KV-Marta" is the result of long-term work by breeders at the Institute of Sugar Beet of the UAAS. This Ukrainian-bred variety was developed to meet the needs of agricultural producers seeking a balance between high sugar content and cultivation efficiency within Ukraine's specific climatic zones. Over its years on the market, it has established itself as a reliable solution for farms prioritizing predictable outcomes.

Agronomic features and phytosanitary resistance

A key strength of this hybrid is its pronounced tolerance to a complex of the most damaging pathogens. The breeding program focused on creating a robust barrier against foliar diseases, significantly reducing the need for additional fungicide applications:

• Cercospora leaf spot: high resistance levels help preserve the leaf canopy until the peak sugar accumulation period.
• Powdery mildew: the variety effectively suppresses infection development, preventing drops in photosynthetic productivity.
• Root rots: genetically inherent immunity minimizes yield losses during storage and transportation.

Root crop characteristics

Morphologically, "KV-Marta" produces large root crops featuring a blend of oval-conical and cylindrical-conical shapes. This configuration facilitates deep soil penetration and ensures ease of harvesting with mechanical equipment. Upon reaching technical maturity, the sugar content remains stable within the 17–18% range, making this variety an economically attractive choice for both processing facilities and farmers aiming for high output per hectare.
