Sugar beet ICB 0801

A Legacy of Selection: Sugar Beet ICB 0801

In the market of Ukrainian-bred sugar beet, the ICB 0801 variety holds a niche as a stable and field-tested solution. Developed by specialists at the Institute of Sugar Beet of the NAAS (UAAS), this triploid hybrid is the result of years of research by local geneticists aimed at adapting the crop to the conditions of intensive agriculture in Ukraine.

Stress Resistance and Pathogen Profile

A key feature of this hybrid is its balanced immune profile. Under conditions of moderate humidity and the temperature fluctuations typical of the Ukrainian climate, ICB 0801 demonstrates high resistance to a complex of soil and leaf pathogens. Agronomic practice confirms its resilience against threats such as:

• Root rot (damping-off): minimal impact during early vegetation stages.
• Cercospora leaf spot: effective suppression of disease development during the canopy growth phase.
• Rots: high root storage quality and field resistance to storage-related diseases.

The triploid ploidy type was chosen by breeders for a reason. This genetic architecture allows for an optimal combination of root yield and sugar content, which is critical for processing factories.

Agronomic Context

This model is aimed at farms that prioritize predictability. ICB 0801 does not require specialized or exotic cultivation technologies, and its biological characteristics allow for easy integration into standard crop rotations. By choosing this hybrid, farmers receive a product that has been «field-hardened» across various soil and climatic zones of the country. It is a tool that has proven its effectiveness in the battle to preserve harvests against the most aggressive sugar beet pathogens.
