Marina

The MARINA soy variety is a mid-early hybrid with a low maturity group, primarily intended for food use. The plants reach a height of 110-120 cm and have a determinate growth type. The pubescence on the main stem is reddish-brown, and the flowers are white. The seeds are of medium size, elongated and flattened, with a yellow color and a light brown hilum. The height of attachment of the lower pods is 19.1-20.7 cm, which facilitates harvest collection and improves its quality.

The yield of the MARINA variety at standard seed moisture reaches 26.9-28.2 c/ha with irrigation and 1.4-1.8 c/ha under rain-fed farming conditions. The fat content in absolutely dry seeds varies from 19.6 to 20.1%, and the crude protein content is 39.0-40.6%, making this variety a valuable source of protein and fats. The yield of green mass at standard moisture reaches 22.1-22.5 t/ha, allowing the use of the plant for fodder purposes as well.

The variety is resistant to a range of diseases and pests: Fusarium infection is about 5.0%, Ascochyta is 4.9%, Downy Mildew is 3.5%, and Bacterial Blight is 5.7%. Pests such as the soybean weevil and the seed maggot cause damage at levels of 5.5% and 3.0%, respectively. For optimal cultivation on weed-free fields, row sowing with a seeding rate of 0.7-0.75 million seeds per hectare is recommended with irrigation. On infested fields, wide-row sowing with row spacings of 45, 60, or 70 cm is possible, with a corresponding reduction in the seeding rate.
