SUZY sorghum seeds are a high-quality hybrid of grain and silage sorghum, bred by the American company Nuseed, adapted for cultivation in Ukraine. This hybrid is characterized by high yield, drought, heat, and disease resistance, making it a reliable choice for farmers working in areas with harsh climatic conditions and water deficit. The plant's low stature, reaching up to 0.8 meters, promotes rapid vegetative mass formation while consuming less water compared to other hybrids, and short internodes provide high resistance to lodging.
The vegetation period of SUZY sorghum ranges from 65 to 80 days, ensuring its early maturity and suitability for late and emergency sowings. Thanks to its early field clearance after harvest, sorghum serves as an excellent predecessor for winter crops while leaving sufficient organic residues. The genetic stability of the hybrid, absence of tannin in the grain, and high drought and heat tolerance make it versatile for various uses, including grain, starch, and spirit production.
SUZY sorghum is characterized by high protein (about 13%) and starch (up to 70%) content in the grain, enhancing its feed and food value. The recommended seeding rate is 180-220 thousand seeds per hectare, ensuring productive tillering (2-3 tillers) and potential grain yield of up to 100 centners per hectare. The open kernel and straw-yellow color of the grain further attest to the high quality of this hybrid, successfully used in the production of grit, flour, silage, and other agricultural products.
