Sorghum hybrid Tzuni is an early-maturing grain sorghum variety developed in the USA and certified to OECD standards. This variety features a short vegetation period of 65 to 80 days, ensuring rapid harvest and suitability for areas with harsh climatic conditions, limited water availability, and high temperatures. Plants reach up to 0.8 meters in height, possess a low-growing form with short internodes, which enhances resistance to lodging and allows efficient vegetative mass formation while consuming less water compared to other hybrids.
Tzuni exhibits high resistance to pests and diseases, as well as significant drought and heat tolerance. The genetic stability of the variety and the absence of tannin in the grain make it attractive for cultivation across a wide range of regions. Additionally, the variety demonstrates enhanced cold tolerance during early development stages, expanding its applicability under various climatic conditions. The 1000-seed mass is 27 grams, protein content in the grain reaches 13%, and starch content is 70%, making it a valuable raw material for grain, starch, and alcohol production.
Tzuni is recommended for fall and insurance sowings, as well as as a predecessor for winter crops, since it matures early and leaves significant amounts of organic plant residues. Seeds are treated with the fungicide "Maxim XL", insecticide "Cruiser 600FS", and antidote "Concept III", ensuring additional protection and seed quality in accordance with DSTU 2240-93 requirements. The potential grain yield reaches 100 centners per hectare, confirming the high productivity of this hybrid.
