Sorghum Odk305B

Technical profile of Odk305V

Sorghum "Odk305V" is a selection product focused on stable grain production under moderate climatic stress. Developed by the Plant Breeding and Genetics Institute (Odesa), it relies on the physiology of short stature, which determines the key operational parameters of the crops.

Biological architecture

• Vegetation period: 90-100 days. This interval is critical for regions with a short frost-free period: the plant completes the full grain maturation cycle before autumn cooling.
• Morphotype: Height 90-100 cm. Short stature is not only an indicator of lodging resistance but also an optimal balance between vegetative mass and the generative phase. A short stem reduces energy expenditure on nutrient transport, directing it instead into forming a full-weight ear.

Harvest characteristics

The light-brown grain has a dense structure, which is important for storage and primary processing. Due to the compact size of the plant, the hybrid allows for the optimization of combine harvester settings, reducing losses during direct harvesting. Technically, this is a "convenient" variety for mechanized harvesting: the absence of excessive biomass reduces the load on separators and cleaning mechanisms of the machinery.

Practical application

It is advisable to integrate this hybrid into crop rotations in arid zones. The short stem provides high tolerance to wind loads, and the medium maturity period allows the variety to be used as an insurance crop during reseeding. The main value of "Odk305V" lies in the predictability of development and adaptation to domestic soil and climatic conditions, eliminating the risks associated with imported seed material not adapted to local stress factors.
