OTELO — new moderately-intensive sorghum hybrid belonging to the high-oleic segment. This hybrid is distinguished by its high oil content, reaching 50–52%, making it valuable for producing oil with improved quality characteristics. OTELO exhibits high resistance to major sorghum diseases such as rust, false powdery mildew, as well as lodging, ensuring stable yields even under adverse conditions. Sorghum is generally one of the most promising cereal crops, widely used in crop rotation to enhance soil fertility. It is characterized by high adaptability to various climatic conditions, ability to grow on saline and eroded soils, as well as drought tolerance, which contributes to water resource conservation. This crop yields high biomass, making it valuable for various agricultural applications. Use of the OTELO sorghum includes animal feed production, food industry, as well as bioenergy purposes, specifically bioethanol and biogas production. The recommended cultivation zone for this hybrid is the steppe regions of Central and Northern Ukraine, where it demonstrates the best yield and quality indicators. Thanks to its unique properties, OTELO is a promising choice for farmers seeking high-quality sorghum harvests with optimal oil content.
