ASP 27 is a medium-maturity grain sorghum variety developed by LLC "All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Sorghum and Soy "Slavyanskye Pole". The plant is of medium height with dark green leaves and weak anthocyanin coloration of seedlings. The panicle is of medium length and density, with a wide lower part, while the lemma is short and acquires a reddish-brown hue at maturity. The grain is elliptical with starchy endosperm, making the variety suitable for producing food sorghum and feeds.
Additionally, ASP 27 is a hybrid of sweet sorghum obtained by crossing with the "Slavyanskye Pole 520" variety. This hybrid is characterized by early maturity, plant height from 122 to 200 cm, juicy stems, and good foliage. The leaves are wide and long, and the panicle is large and dense. The seeds are membranous and brown. The hybrid demonstrates high yield of green mass and dry matter both with irrigation and under rainfed conditions in various regions, confirming its adaptability to different climate conditions.
The variety is distinguished by high resistance to diseases, pests, drought, and lodging, making it a reliable choice for agriculture. Protein content in the plant varies from 9.4% to 10.5%, and fiber content from 25.5% to 28.8%. It is recommended for cultivation in various regions, including the East Kazakhstan, Almaty, West Kazakhstan, and Akimolskaya regions. ASP 27 is suitable for producing feeds and food sorghum, ensuring high productivity and crop quality.
